Luce Loft | A Wedding Venue in San Diego
When I was asked to put together the shoot for Heather Sharpe, I was floored, not to mention beyond giddy! There was no holding back on this one and it had to be loaded with lush gorgeousness. And, designing for someone who looks at gorgeous wedding details all day every day, this shoot HAD to impress. This was a big deal and I certainly felt the pressure.
After I collected myself, got the color palette and parameters from Heather, I got down to business. First task was the venue that would serve as the best backdrop for all of the details I had swimming around in my mind. It didn’t take me long to select Luce Loft in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. It is literally a blank event space with four walls of visual texture and edginess and it offered a nice contrast to my design to really let the details stand out. What makes Luce Loft special, however, is its ethereal, creamy natural light in the afternoons that glows through the only 2 windows it has. Perfect for our shoot, but we had to get the timing right.
With that in mind, I asked Thomas Pellicer to come on board. His work in natural light is amazing, so naturally, he was a perfect fit. So easy to work with and has a discerning eye for the smallest detail. Nothing gets past this guy! A wedding designer’s dream!
The florals, of course, had to be mind-blowing so I asked Michelle and Marisa Lara, the fabulous (and so easygoing!) sisters behind Seven Stems Floral Design, to work with me on the brass tacks. We had so much fun collaborating together and tossing ideas back and forth. I must say, they really outdid themselves. Those enormous dahlias!
What better to complement the lush and elegant florals than a cake from the uber-talented RooneyGirl BakeShop. I could spend hours pouring over Maria’s painstakingly crafted works of art. What can I say, with a color palette and a few adjectives describing what I wanted, she hit the nail on the head. Stunning!
I was lucky enough to showcase one of La Tavola‘s brand new linen lines for 2015. I loved the texture and feminine pattern it brought to the table. Coupled with Classic’s romantic Sophia China pattern, the whimsical swirls on the linen and plates tied in beautifully with the invitation suite.
The dramatic table design was striking against the walls of the Loft and with the magical lighting, this was a divine combination, fitting for the Style Unveiled re-launch. I am honored and humbled to share the fruits of our collaboration with such a style-savvy following.
